The undeniable desire to learn more. An inner pull to pursue higher education, trainings, seminars, workshops, certifications, or courses. A deep longing for mastering a specialty or interest that you may have deemed “silly or frivolous”, yet you know that’s not true. Your eyes and heart are open to the unlimited possibilities this “soul gift” offers you of a rich and rewarding life.
Not just a life of abundance, but more importantly it is helping to balance a life that has felt unbalanced for years. Maybe even decades. Your body, mind and spirit are beginning to weave together in a beautiful way that undeniably supports your mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and psychic health and well-being.
Helpful Background and Overview
The Eight of Earth (Pentacles suit in traditional Tarot) I’m speaking of here refers to the Angel Tarot cards I use during readings or when teaching. An Angel Tarot deck has 78 cards with five distinct suits. One suit, the Major Arcana, refers to bigger events, choices and decisions in our lives. The Minor Arcana has four distinct suits of Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and these align with aspects of our lives in the areas of earthly pursuits, decision-making, heart-based choices, creativity, action and career.
Each card has a very specific symbolic story or meaning behind it that aligns with where we are along our life path.
The cards themselves give us visual clues and imagery to where we are on our hero’s journey. They give us the language and blueprint for mythology, symbolism, meaning and story.
The angel depicted on each card offers us a willing Divine Partner to help guide us during this leg of the journey. Why? Because the angels’ know that we have a tendency to try to do Life on our own, often times leaving us feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.
However, when we see, feel and know our angelic partner is nearby just waiting to be asked to help ~ everything changes. A heavy burden is lifted from our shoulders. We can breathe again. Life feels more joyful and less stressful. Possibilities and opportunities now feel within reach.
Sequence is Important
Let me share a secret with you. Whenever I’m doing a reading for someone I always think about the card that just preceded it because that tells me about the client’s internal story. Their own personal hero’s journey.
Stay with me a few more moments for a brief look at the Seven’s meaning and how it relates to the Eight family and importance.
Seven's represent soul searching. The inner yearning and knowing that there is more to life than meets the eye. The seven is symbolic to an epiphany or awakening we have just experienced that causes us to see life completely differently. It's like the spiritual alarm clock that rings and we no longer hit the snooze button on our life anymore.
We literally "wake-up" and begin to say Yes! to wanting a more colorful, rich and deeply connected life. The monotony of the old no longer appeals to our new way of seeing ourselves in this particular life.
It's important to see the sequence in the cards during a reading. It's very telling and helps to thread or weave events together. They may seem unconnected, however, that is rarely, if ever, the case. Every choice we make or do not make sets off a series of actions that ripple out into all areas of our life.
Eight of Earth: the star of the show
Let’s return to the main event, shall we? The Eight and it's importance in a reading. Symbolically, an Eight comes immediately after a Seven in our soul's journey. An Eight represents choices and symbolizes the infinity sign turned on its side.
Now that you have been "awakened" to a new way of thinking and feeling, you are ready for the next step. There is not one exact, perfect step to take.
Believe it or not, this means it’s time to think expansively. There are unlimited, expansive steps available. None of them are wrong. Make a conscious intention to shift your thinking from limited choices to unlimited possibilities.
In this case, the Eight of Earth's message coming through loud and clear is to pursue education. This is the card of further study. It could be in a completely new area or it could be to further dive into an interest you currently have.
I love the imagery on this card. In several of my Angel inspired decks it shows a youthful person delighting in books and learning. Several books lay open as the young deity or fairy looks at them eagerly. Beaming from ear to ear.
What is also important to note is the use of coins (a.k.a. pentacles) or magic dust that surrounds the books and the smiling youth.
Tarot speaks to our psyche through archetypes, images and symbols. With that said, it encourages us to look beyond the physical age of the image depicted and see them through the eyes of symbology. The youth is representative of a "youthful approach" or "beginner's mind."
We are encouraged to move away from the literal and embrace the symbolic. If this card shows up in a reading I do for myself, I know that I am being called to embrace the avid student archetype. It would be wise to consider continual learning or start looking more seriously at specialty trades and schooling that really light me up right now.
The benefits are two-fold
First, I'll enjoy the act of being the student and with all the coins used in the imagery it indicates that this will become a prosperous endeavor for me. Second, the money needed to follow these educational pursuits will manifest seamlessly. Possibly through scholarship, grants or money coming to me in an unexpected way.
Or, the funds needed will be very do-able. Meaning, there might be a loan payment plan that makes it incredibly feasible. It could also mean that my savings or money set aside will easily cover the costs. Bottom line is it doesn't need to be expensive to follow a dream.
I may decide to learn virtually by purchasing an affordable on-line course versus flying somewhere to take a high-dollar weekend course with that same instructor. The Eight of Earth asks us to think outside the box in our pursuit of higher learning. Think more creatively.
Most importantly, now is the time to see yourself as worthy of the investment. Your talents, desires and cravings for more out of life are speaking loudly to you. Follow them and you won't be disappointed. The money will be there. No more excuses. No more procrastination. No more delays.
Go all in!
You are ready. You are supported. Your Angels have your back. The effort, passion and love you are showing towards this new area will pay off.
